Can you tell us a bit about your background and how it led to a career in digital?
I am a marketer at heart and about 6 years ago had an opportunity to move into the digital marketing space. At the time, I believed that digital would be the future and a skillset which is much needed for now. The timing was perfect and I learnt a ton along the way and still continue to learn every day.
Women in the field of technology are definitely in the minority, so why did you decide to pursue a career in digital?
I wanted to be an influencer in the Digital Marketing space and to re-define marketing in the age of digital.
What challenges have you faced in the workplace, especially your experience in a male-dominated environment?
I have faced multiple challenges along the way: digital was a conversation amongst males and women were invisible in meetings.
Senior digital posts were given to males as women were not deemed skilled or experienced enough to talk tech
I had to ensure I knew my stuff so I could bring my voice to the table and that was a personal achievement for me. It also meant me working very hard to drive credibility and authority on the subject matter. Showing defeat was not an option.
What has been the biggest surprise in your career?
As a woman, I can drive the digital agenda with ease and confidence.
What are some of the skills we should be learning to be successful digital ambassadors?
- Leadership skills – we need to lead in our own spaces
- Networking – always share ideas and create spaces to meet people with different ideas to yours
- Continuous learning – digital is ever changing – be in the know always
- Influence – find areas of influence and participate
- Curious – stay curious so you grow and learn

Show value in digital to business
Digital transformation is something companies have been talking about for decades now. How to be part of the digital age? With the world growing and evolving as quickly as it does today, and new technology being made available daily, how does a business keep up with the ‘transformation’?
Transformation is a journey not a destination. It needs a roadmap to guide you, collaboration to support you and commitment to keep going. It requires a culture and mind-set shift to embrace digital as a core enabler to business success
What are three key pieces of advice that you would give to women in digital struggling with digital transformation?
1. Don’t eat an elephant in one go – start with small bites
2. You don’t have to do it alone, you need a team and people to support
3. Celebrate the small wins along the way
What advice would you give to other women who are interested in pursuing a similar career path to yours?
Get a mentor to guide your path so that you have a plan to work with. Always ensure you stay curious and get your hands dirty. Have a plan to work from.
Fun fact about you?
I love dancing, good music and great company
What can the delegates at She’s a Boss – Women in Tech expect from you? In few lines, please state the importance of such a platform for women?
I am looking forward to meeting other women and sharing my experiences, learnings and advise. This conference provides us with a platform where we can be ourselves and celebrate each other’s successes. I feel proud to be part of the conference as it showcases our successes as women and unites us to a common cause.
